June 2009

Well another 2 months have flown by! Hunter turned 1 on May 23rd and everyone was right about the second child...Riley had professional pictures taken, a "look who's 1" card sent out to everyone...poor Hunter got no professional picture, no card to send and my camera broke the morning of her birthday so we only got a few decent pictures from the big day with daddy's camera! But pictures aside, she had a great first birthday! She's not really into sweets so rather than eat her cake, she just decided to wear it - all over her clothes, all over her face, all in her hair...but that's what it's all about right! We took her to Imaginations at Play which is a miniature version of the Children's Museum with little "neighborhoods" to play in! She and Riley both had a great time...no big party this year - she's too young to know the difference!

Hunter also started walking a few weeks before her birthday and she's getting better at it every day - although she still looks like drunk wobbling around - it's very cute. She's even doing her own version of running! Her personality is continuing to blossom - she makes these very funny faces where she scrunches up her face and squints her eyes and gives you this "glare" which is very funny - also makes me wonder if I do that and I don't even realize it! She's still very much like her daddy - laid back for the most part and just taking life in stride! Thank goodness for this because Riley literally hangs onto her all the time and poor Hunter never seems to get a break from her big sister - but I guess we should be happy they play well together b/c I'm sure they'll be bickering soon enough!

Riley is still our little drama queen - she talks incessantly (sun up to well beyond sun down - constant chatter) and has the most creative and wild imagination of any child I've ever met. She loves to commentate through dinner - which is why we eat in 10 min and she's still sitting there 45 minutes later! She will sit and make up elaborate stories about her frogs or her imaginary friends (Freddie the Frog, Davis the Duck and Penny the Pig). The 3 friends have been with us for a good year now - we've had Freddie the Frog around for even longer. She even blames Freddie for many of the messes she makes or he gets blamed for bodily noises! It's really quite funny. She continues to do well in school and is looking forward to Pre-K starting in August. She loves to practice her writing and it's amazing how much it's improved in just a few months. She surprised us a month ago when she came home and spouted out the Pledge of Allegiance! She remembers EVERYTHING we say, so I especially have to watch myself b/c she will most definitely repeat it at the most inopportune times!

No big news to report for me and Chris for now...just plugging along enjoying life. Hope you all are doing well - let us hear from you!
