October 2008

October was a fun filled month. Hunter turned 5 months old and continues to grow like a weed. She is bigger than Riley was at this age and unfortunately she's outgrowing Riley's winter season clothes already. We're in 9-12 month clothes already! She is a great eater and loves just about anything. She is starting to sit up on her own and soon enough she'll be crawling so the real fun will begin! She's a very laid back baby and just goes with the flow.

Riley on the other hand is all drama and very high strung! She is still taking tennis and soccer and improving weekly in both. School is going great...she is exceling in language arts and math...her teacher is very impressed with her vocabulary...as are Chris and I but there are definitely times when we just wish for quiet...it never comes! The last week of October they had Spirit Week at school so she wore jammies one day, she wore her favorite team one day (Go Heels of course), they had a pep rally, silly hair day and the week was topped off with a Fall Party and everyone wore their Halloween costumes. We looked at dozens of costumes and she insisted on being a doctor...a few days after I bought it she confessed that she wanted to be doctor so everyone would be scared of her! The Miley family came to visit one weekend from NC and Riley and their daughter Claire (4 yr old) hit it off as if they were long lost friends. It was great to see them!

Chris and I are doing great. Chris is coming up on a busy holiday season - with the clubhouse now open, they'll be serving Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas parties and for the first year since we moved here, he'll be back at work on New Year's Eve. And for the first year ever, I'm okay with this - looking forward to waking up and starting the new year with a clear head for the first time since I can remember! We are both just thankful to have jobs given the economy. My job is going great - traveling to Charlotte every 2-3 weeks so daddy is becoming a pro at handling 2 girls. Maybe next year we'll get crazy and go for #3 and hope we can get some more testosterone in the house...otherwise we're going to have to get a boy dog so Chris has some male companionship!

Hope every thing is going well on your end...let us hear from you!

September 2008

September has been a fun month for the Conner family. Hunter will be 4 months old in a few days and is slowly starting to eat solids! She tried peaches first (living in GA, this seemed appropriate) but they were a bit tart so we've also tried squash, peas, pears and bananas...bananas are by far her favorite! She enjoys sitting in the high chair because she can sit up straight vs. laying down in her various bouncy chairs! Riley has also enjoyed the food introduction thanks to the very funny faces Hunter will make! Hunter is also starting to enjoy her Johnny Jumper and her Exersaucer!

Our family also enjoyed our first family "vacation"...we spent a weekend in Ellijay, GA at a great cabin rental thanks to a gift certificate from my BAC teammates in Charlotte! The cabin was awesome with 2 BR and a huge loft that sat right on a small river. There was a great wood walkway that took you out to a deck that was right on the river...it was very peaceful and relaxing. The water was not too cold so Riley and Chris went swimming and did some pretend fishing with Riley's Scooby-Doo fishing pole!

Riley had her 3 year check up in early September and she continues to grow up so fast....she weighs 39.8 lbs and is 41.25 in tall. Dr. Stickney was quite impressed with her speech for her age and she was her usual "ham" self and happily sang a few songs for him just to be a show off! He is still predicting she'll be 6 feet or so fully grown!

Riley also started tennis and soccer lessons at school! You can already tell she's going to have a backhand just like her momma's and she's a great soccer player...perhaps a UNC soccer scholarship could be in her future and a national championship!!!!!!!! She has also informed us that she would like to do ballet as well but we think 2 activities is all we can handle right now!
