Sept - Oct 2009

Well every 2 months seems to be my new update schedule! As is always the case, the days go by and I have no idea what we did but time just flies by! We're all doing well. We're 2 months into the school year and Riley is doing fantastic in Pre-K. Her hand writing continues to improve and she's starting recognize words as we head down the path of learning to read. She also takes dance, basketball and Hi-Yah (kid karate) at school in the afternoons...she loves Hi Yah and she's working on a mean side kick! We had hoped she'd find some rhythm in dance class but so far she hasn't found the beat! She just finished her first ever 10-week soccer program on Saturday's - I don't think soccer is in our future long term but she enjoyed her weekly practice!

Hunter is now 17 mo. old and growing like a weed...she is very tall and thin which is making clothing a challenge! She's talking more and more and learning more words but her new favorite is "No" but it's not a mean or sassy "no"...it's a very sweet, long drawn out "nnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooo"...wish this blog had sound and I would demonstrate! Unlike her sister, Hunter values sleep and likes to just sit and be! She will be moving up to the next level at school in early November to the "toddler" class and her new room is the Busy Beavers! We're very excited as her current class is more of a transition room from baby to toddler so she'll start doing more focused activities in circle time and in their learning centers. Hunter had her first black eye - wish I could say she went 12 rounds with another tot but truth is she fell on a toy at school!

As I said earlier...the days fly by and I don't feel like we're all that busy but as I try to update this, I find it hard to remember yesterday much less the past 2 months! We had our Fall Festival at school earlier this month and had a blast - they had all kinds of crafts, an inflatable jumping thing and lots of games. It was so very cold but the kids didn't mind! We are very fortunate thus far in that Riley and Hunter love to play together and do a great job occupying themselves - just hope as we get older this trend continues but unfortunately I foresee lots of fights over clothes and makeup and heaven forbid...boys!

Chris and I are doing well - as I said last time...a little work...a little play and always needing more sleep.

Hope you are all well...let us hear from you!
